Hello! On Tuesday we send a jobs-specific edition of Future Community. This is that. A couple quick notes:
1/ I want to shout out the Resources section at the bottom of the Future Community Job list. It's a useful collection of other job lists, guidance docs, and people sharing niche jobs on LinkedIn. Let me know if you have something to add to it.
2/ I'm in New York and last night I had dinner with Matt Kelley of Humansize Communications. What a joy. Matt is caring, clever, and whip smart–what you want in a strategic partner. We covered a lot of conversational ground including what the future holds for jobs and staffing in strategy consulting. How is AI, in particular, shifting the ground for building skills you need to develop strategy leadership? We're not labor market experts but we've been doing this for a while now.
The TL;DR is that junior roles, especially in/around production, are harder to find and support. You can't offload strategic guidance and coaching (the hows, whys, shoulds, and whens) but you can have an agent code and even draft emails, social media carousels, etc. Problem is that a lot of strategic knowledge in built doing that production work and we're slowly cutting off the future of strategy. I think political campaigns and organizing work will remain vital places for building strategy skills in progressive spaces. But what do you think???
