Newsletter Nerd Club

Newsletter Nerd Club is a space for people who want to build newsletters that change the world.

Newsletter Nerd Club
We're talking with new friends about Newsletters.

Let's get together to show off some newsletters, share ideas about audiences and format and tools, get tips, ask for (and get) advice.

Newsletter Nerd Club is a recurring open, safe and supportive conversation with newsletter-y folks (and the newsletter curious) from non-profits, news organizations and other outposts of the newsletter world.

  • When: We met on July 8th. The next one is coming soon.
  • Where: On Zoom.
  • What: We'll dig into a newsletter topic. The last one was growth. There will also be space for questions, ideas, and meeting other nonprofit newsletter folks.
  • Why: Because there are some good and successful newsletters out there in our space but there could and should be many more. Newsletters can help our organizations reach new people, build loyalty, inform, excite, engage and (do tell!) even help raise money. Let's learn together and have some fun doing it.
  • Who: You. Of course. At the July 8th Newsletter Nerd Club we were joined by newsletter-ers Bryan Vance and Rachel Kincaid.

Bryan runs Stumptown Savings and Feed Your Curiosity. He previously ran newsletters for CityCast and has been a big part of email and digital at Trust for Public Land and Oregon Public Broadcasting. Woot!

Rachel is the newsletter strategist at The Marshall Project, a national nonprofit news organization focused on criminal justice that, at last check, runs at least eight newsletters. I can't wait to hear Rachel talk about how they address growth, constant content creation, measurement and more.

This will be fun (or at least not boring 😄), useful, and you'll meet at least three 3️⃣ newsletter people. I think you'll meet more but three seems safe.
